Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to use apaone.co.uk. Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

This statement covers the public website. The client portal has the same target.

• Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and the focus position is always visible.
• A "Skip to content" link is the first item on each page.
• Pages use proper headings, landmarks and lists, so that screen readers can move around them.
• Text and controls meet the AA contrast ratios in both the light and the dark theme.
• Text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content.
• All important text is in the page itself. Nothing essential appears only after an animation or a script.
• If your device asks for reduced motion, animations are switched off or replaced with a simple fade.
• Forms have visible labels, and errors are described in words next to the field.
• Tables are real tables, never pictures of tables. Charts in our reports come with their data as a table.
• Buttons and links are large enough to press comfortably on a touch screen.

We would rather tell you than have you find out.

• The site has not yet been checked by an independent accessibility auditor. Until it has, we describe WCAG 2.2 AA as our target, not as a result.
• Downloadable files, such as templates and report PDFs, may not be fully accessible. The web page for each one carries the same information in an accessible form.
• The animated diagrams have text alternatives, but the alternative is simpler than the animation.
• When one of our calculators is embedded on another website, its surroundings are outside our control.
• Older browsers do not support some of the newer features we use. The content still works there, with less motion.

Before a page template is released, we check it with a keyboard only, with reduced motion switched on, and for colour contrast. We will add the date and scope of an independent audit here once one has been carried out.
